A little bit about Microneedling.
What is microneedling
Microneedling refers to a treatment where the skin is needled to induce skin cells to produce collagen and elastin. This has the benefit of smoothing the skin, creating glow, and treating:
Acne scars
Wrinkles
Skin scars
Alopecia
Skin tone and enlarged pores
Hyperpigmentation
Collagen induction
Skin rejuvenation
Face lifting
Cellulite and stretch marks
The skin can be needled in three ways, 1. Via a dermal roller, 2. Via stamping device and 3. Via an automatic needle system. It is widely recognised that the stamping and automatic needle systems deliver better results and are safer than dermal rollers due to the type of micro trauma it creates.
Microneedling is my favourite treatment because it is minimally invasive, has a very short down time (you’ll probably look and feel a bit sunburnt for two days), it is scratchy, but not painful and always delivers results.
I use the Raffine automatic microneedling device with single use needle cartridges that deliver nine tiny titanium needles to the face at depths ranging from 0.2mm to 2.0mm. I also use targeted epidermal growth factors (EGF) that is injected under the skin via microneedling which delivers vital nutrients directly to the cells.
Booking a single treatment will make improvements, but booking a course of 3 or 6 delivered every four weeks will really transform your skin. Obviously, you will need to look after it by applying your sun screen daily!

Who can have microneedling?
Almost anyone at any age over 18 years can cosmetically benefit from a course of microneedling. Contraindications include:
Pregnancy and breastfeeding
Active acne, especially inflammatory lesions
Active herpes or other localized infection in the treatment area, including warts.
Moderate-to-severe chronic skin diseases such as eczema or psoriasis
Patients with extreme keloidal tendencies
Immunosuppressed patients, including patients on chemotherapy
Has had botulinum toxin in the last two weeks
One of the greatest things about microneedling is that the treatment continues to work on the cells for six months after you have completed your treatment meaning you will only need maintenance every 3-6 months.
As I’ve said before, microneedling is my very favourite treatment and is central to my skin health and skincare. Because I’m and Advanced Nurse Practitioner I can treat you at depths that non medics cannot, and you can be assured of the infection prevention and control standards at Happy Face Aesthetics.
If you would like to book microneedling with me it is:
£150 for one treatment
£400 for three treatments
£800 for six treatments
Best wishes to you all,
Helen
